These two expressions come from the verb dar (to give) but mean very different things:
Dar → To give something
✅ Voy a dar un regalo a mi amigo. (I’m going to give a gift to my friend.)
✅ ¿Puedes darme la sal? (Can you pass me the salt?)
Darse cuenta (de) → To realize or become aware of something
✅ Me di cuenta de que olvidé las llaves. (I realized I forgot the keys.)
✅ ¿Te das cuenta de lo que pasó? (Do you realize what happened?)
